Welcome to all the new scouts and their families and welcome back to all our current Scouting families. We hope that this year will be a fun and a great experience for your scout as their progress through the year to their rank. If you haven’t noticed yet, there are only eight days left in September. The first couple of weeks of school sure seem to go by fast. Pack 130 understands how busy these times can be for the scouts, adjusting to a new classroom, teachers, and classmates. We hope that Pack 130 and your Scout’s den will be a familiar place where they can learn and have some fun doing it.
Our August campfire was a big success, the fire was big and the s’mores were yummy. We had our first service project/fundraisier Car Wash at St. Simon on Saturday the 20th and with the help of new Tigers, Wolves, and Bears dens the Pack made $159 for 2 hours of soapy fun. We like to thank all that helped to setup the Car Wash and especially Ms. Gaza for making the ice cream run!
Tuesday, September 23 is our new Scout Recruitment night, so scouts don’t forget to wear your uniform to school. This is one of the best ways to get new friends involved with scouting. If you like it, remember to tell your friends about it. Then at 7pm in the Commons, come to the Recruitment night and play some awesome games with Mr. Gaza and Mr. Keeley, and bring your parents so they can learn about our Pack.
We are not done yet. Thursday, September 25 at 6:15pm at the Front door of Westgate, we have a 15 minutes service project. Boy Scout Troop 159 is doing a food drive and they have asked us to help distribute flyers to people’s home within the Westgate neighborhood. Once you’re done you can go home for the night! Easy and you can get some exercise and a good deed done at the same time.
Finally, Friday, September 26 at 7pm in the Commons, it’s Pack Night. Yes, the long awaited first Pack night for this year. I hope to see all the scouts and parents there to kick off the official start of our scouting year. We got a favorite game ready in the gym for the scouts and siblings, but it is a secret. So, you’ll have to come and see.
